Our chapter has various activities in full swing, while some are in the pipeline. We actively organize various talks, refresher courses and interactions for the benefit of all students in our college by experienced faculty as well as young researchers more details of which are in the Events page.
Currently we have the following Interest Groups (following the SIG classification in ACM) where a faculty mentors and guides the progress of interested students in that area of Computer Science above and over the scope of a semester course:
- SIGKDD – mainly focusing on data mining and machine learning under Prof. Partha Basuchowdhuri. Meetings on every Friday. Currently focused on machine learning and data clustering.
- SIGACT – focusing on algorithms and computational theory under Dr. Prosenjit Gupta. Initial focus is now on graph theory, after which we shall move on to combinatorics. Meetings on every other Wednesday.
- SIGART – focused on artificial intelligence this group meets every other wednesday (alternating from SIGACT) under Prof. Sujay Saha. Currently dealing with genetic algorithms and artificial neural networks.
There is also a Languages hobby group comprising of interested students only, currently focused on Python under Manasa Jm, Satarupa Guha et al.
